History
The Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade is our signature event and has become a part of the fabric of Annapolis. Loosely organized in the late 1970’s, it grew slowly each year and in 1983 EYC formalized the parade. In 1986, it included thirty-three boats and won the Maryland Event of the Year Award.Now, up to 30,000 spectators watch the event from a variety of spots including the Naval Academy sea wall, Eastport Bridge, Ego Alley, from hundreds of private residences, and, of course, EYC, SSA, and AYC. In 2016, Annapolis and the EYC Lights Parade were highlighted by CBS showing past segments of the parade during the "CBS This Morning" Saturday show. That year, the EYC Lights Parade also won the USA Today poll of "10 Best Holiday Parades.”
