Darla's Dialog - January 19, 2023

By Darla Winstead - Publisher of Macaroni Kid Annapolis January 19, 2023

Hi MacKID Friends,

How's your week going? Fantastic I hope!

Well Being and Setting Goals

In many of my conversations this week, I have noticed a recurring theme - Wellbeing and Setting Goals. I participated in an Elements of Wellbeing activity from Chris DeGuzman of FreshLeap Coaching + Consulting and realized I needed to make some changes in my life and outlook. A few weeks back I shared an article with you, Achieve Your Dreams with Smart-y Goals. I used the Smart-y format to create several personal and professional goals for myself and am feeling very focused on my path for 2023. I'm now helping my "sister/friend" make goals and baby step her way through a very difficult situation she has avoided for years. In co-writing the article, Meet Choyce Simmons: Annapolis Mompreneur and Inspiration for this weeks e-news, I spent time chatting with my dear friend Choyce and discussing the challenges of life and how we move forward. I am reminded that each of us are in charge of the choices we make and our attitude.

  • Self assess
  • Make goals
  • Hold yourself accountable
  • Attitude matters
  • Get support
  • Move forward
  • Give Back

Happy Lunar New Year of the Rabbit

There are many events happening in our area to celebrate the Lunar New Year which is this Sunday 1/22. You will find events listed in the MacKID Annapolis website's Event Calendar. This week's article, Ringing in the Year of the Rabbit: Celebrate Lunar New Year With Kids teaches you about the celebration and offers many ideas so you can celebrate at home with your family.

Our friends over at Jing Ying Institue of Kung Fu and Tai Chi in Arnold are hosting many classes and programs over the next week to celebrate. See the list in, Celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit in Arnold. Plan on going to their Open House on 1/28 for crafts, treats, and see a Lion Dance.
