1. Bowie BAYSOX Home Game

  • What/When:

2. Composting Demonstration & Free Compost Bin for County Residents

  • What: During the Summer and Fall, we offer demonstrations at the composting site where you can learn how to do home composting and get answers to your composting questions. You will be instructed on how to start and maintain compost, and also receive a free compost bin and other useful items!
  • When: August 19, 10am
  • Who: All Ages
  • Where: Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Rd - Composting Demonstration Site on Wildwood Trail, behind Blue Heron Center park lot, Annapolis 
  • Fee: Free

3. Animal Track Hike

  • What: Join a Park Ranger to learn about the identifying animal tracks while on hike through Kinder Farm Park. You will also learn about the habits and behaviors of the animals that are identified via tracks. 
  • When: August 19, 10am-12pm
  • Who: All Ages
  • Where: Kinder Farm Park, 1001 Kinder Farm Park Rd, Millersville

4. Pirate Storytime

  • What: ARGH!! Learn how to talk and dance like a pirate while also enjoying some nautical tales of treasure, adventure, and sailing the seven seas!
  • When: Saturday, August 19, 10:30 am - 11
  • Who: Young children accompanied by an adult
  • Where: Broadneck Library, 1275 Green Holly Dr, Annapolis

5. Maryland Seafood Festival

  • What: If you like seafood, this is the festival for you! There will be seafood vendors, seafood sampler platter, local craft beer, crab soup cook-off kids activities, Mildred Belle deck tours and reef ball making.
  • When: Saturday, August 19 and Sunday, August 20, 11am-7pm both days
  • Who: All Ages
  • Where: Susan Campbell Park at City Dock, 71 Prince George St, Annapolis

6. African American Heritage Tour

  • What: 2-hour walking tour with period-attired guide. Trace the journey of African Americans in Annapolis over the past 300 years. Hear the stories of notable Marylanders. 
  • When: Saturday, August 19, 1-3pm, monthly on the 3rd Saturday, through October
  • Who: All Ages

7. Aviation Day

  • What: It's the birthday of Orville and Katherine Wright! Learn about these and other important people in the history of aviation and make some flying objects of your own!
  • When: Saturday, August 19, 2:30-5pm
  • Who: Families with young children
  • Where: Chesapeake Children's Museum, 25 Silopanna Rd, Annapolis
  • Fee: $8, includes museum admission; CCM members are free

8. Farragut Market Annapolis

  • What: A community focused farmers market with a mission to give back.  A variety of vendors, produce and food trucks.
  • When: Sunday, August 20, 9am-1pm
  • Who: All Ages
  • Where: Navy - Marine Corp Memorial Stadium, 550 Taylor Ave, Annapolis
  • Fee: Free

9.  Puppy Plunge

  • What: The SPCA of Anne Arundel County is wrapping up the dog days of summer with a puppy plunge fit for pups of all sizes! This family-friendly event will have food for humans and dogs, live music, open dog beaches, and a puppy pie-eating contest.
  • When: Sunday, August 20, 11am-2pm

10. Teen "Selfie" Portrait Paint

  • What: Let your inner artist shine by creating a "selfie" portrait. We will provide paint and a canvas.

  • Who: Ages 11-17
  • Where: Edgewater Library, 25 Stepneys Lane, Edgewater
