David Hayes Collaborative Sculpture Workshop on May 14th

Learn about and create sculptures. Perfect event for Girl Scouts aged 9-17.

By Alison Harbaugh of ArtFarm Studios, Annapolis May 6, 2022

In partnership with the year-long David Hayes sculpture installation around the City of Annapolis, ArtFarm Studios has partnered with The Chesapeake Children's Museum to host a sculpture workshop led by ArtFarm artists and CCM staff.

In this workshop, participants (ages 9-17) will learn about the artwork of David Hayes and his connection to nature. Students will visit 1-2 sculptures nearby at Maryland Hall and Bates MS and take a nature walk to sketch and gain inspiration from the environment around them. They will then break into teams and construct 3 semi-permanent sculptural works that will live on the grounds of the CCM.

In addition to sketching and building their sculpture, participants will get to paint, collage and design their individual piece that will become part of a larger collaborative piece.

This is a great activity for Brownies and Girl Scout groups to do together to earn an Outdoor Creator Badge!
