Here is a list of places within a reasonable drive from Annapolis that offer family fun and ways to keep your kids from getting bored this winter. Many are free! Some are indoors and some are outdoors. Enjoy and Have Fun!

Arundel Olympic Swim Center

Where:  Annapolis

Anne Arundel County’s largest public indoor swimming facility features a temperature controlled, indoor 50 meter by 25 yard swimming pool with adjacent wading pool, a poolside 17-person spa and two 1 meter diving boards.

Banneker-Douglas Museum

Where:  Annapolis

See exhibits, participate in special community events

Busch Annapolis Library

Where:  Annapolis

Discovery Dock children's area, Club 1117 teen area with makerspace, scheduled storytimes and many special community events

Chesapeake Children's Museum

Where:  Annapolis

Explore outdoor and indoor play areas, participate in weekly programs such as Creek Critters Walk or Storytime. Check out their Girl Scout and homeschool offerings

Chuck E. Cheese

Discoveries: The Library at the Mall

Where:  Annapolis, in the Westfield Annapolis Mall

Story times, classes, special events, and plenty of books to read and check out.  Computers and Wifi available inside the library.  There is also a Community Pantry. 

DodgeArrows Annapolis

Where: Millersville

Like dodgeball with bows and arrows. Indoor sport activity for ages 6+

Hike 19 miles of trails and community programs

Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts

Where:  Annapolis

Hours:  Outside - year round dawn to dusk   Inside - varies, check website

To Do:  Outside - Discover murals, a meditative Nature Sacred labyrinth, a free sharing library, and an analemmatic (human) sundial. Take a walk down behind Bates Middle School to Weems Whalen Field and connect to the Spa Creek Trail   Inside - Catch a show, take a class, explore the art galleries

Maryland State House

Where: Annapolis

Self guided tours inside the State House.

Mission Escape Rooms

Where:  Annapolis, Waugh Chapel, and Arundel Mills

Ages 6+ work together to complete a mission and escape a themed room.

North Arundel Aquatic Center

Where:  Glen Burnie  

The North Arundel Aquatic Center offers an 8-lane 25 yard competition pool and a leisure pool. The leisure pool is a zero depth entry pool with three 20 yard lap lanes and indoor water features. The water features include a 134 foot water slide, splash down area, water buckets, preschool water slide, vortex area and poolside spa for adults.

"Pip" Moyer Recreation Center  

Where:  Annapolis

Classes, sports, special events and great amenities including a rock climbing wall, Ballocity, and Kid Zone babysitting. 

Play Street Museum 

Where:  Severna Park

Engaging and educational neighborhood children's museum with activities for toddlers and children up to 8 years of age. Our neighborhood children’s museum transports your young ones to The Town Square where they can explore interactive exhibits based around life in the city. Playtime reservations are recommended

Quiet Waters Park

Where:  Annapolis

Hike the trails, outdoor ice skating rink, visit the playground

Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (S.E.R.C.)

Where:  Edgewater

Hike the trails, visit the Reed Education Center or Woodlawn History Center 

United States Naval Academy

Where:  Annapolis

Tour the grounds, visit the museum, watch sporting events, or attend special events in the chapel

Wild Kid Acres

Where:  Edgewater

Visit and pet farm animals and community programs

William Paca House and Garden

Where:  Annapolis

Tour the home of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, explore the expansive garden in the back yard.
