My intention this week was to write a somewhat sappy, woe-is-me Note from Nicole. You see, my best friend moved TO TEXAS last weekend, and selfish as she is, she brought her son with her... my son's BFF. (So rude.) Regardless, that's a whole heck of a lot of miles from here, and to say I am so sad about it is a gross understatement.
But instead of wallowing, I decided to make a list of the ways life changes when your best friend moves away. Here goes nothing.
1. The number of texts-per-day you receive skyrockets. And here I thought we texted all day BEFORE her move...
2. A trip to Starbucks is cheaper, but you'd rather pay the extra five bucks just to have her to drop it off to.
3. You have your calendar marked for when she returns to visit... even though it's 7 months away.
4. You have to bring your kids on your errands because she's not around to be your kids' last-minute Superwoman 2nd mom/babysitter.
5. There is no one to run to the drug store in the middle of the day for you when you burn your hand and need first aid supplies... or when your kid gets Hand Foot Mouth and needs a box of popsicles.
6. Whenever something hysterical happens, you immediately hop on your phone to text it or Marco Polo it to her.
7. You dread trying to make new friends with the same sense of humor you and she has.
8. The number of memes that you tag each other in on Facebook increases ten-fold. 
9. You have added her new city to your phone so you know the time and weather where she lives.
10. You drive by her house; no longer to visit, but to make sure the new owners are treating it well. Oh, and also to spy on her neighbors and give her an update.
11. You learn quickly how to sympathetically break the news to your kids that special lunchtimes at her house, and fun sleepovers, are a thing of the past.
12. You revert back to your 12-year-old self and wear your friendship bracelet daily.
There. I did it. The 12 ways my life has changed since my mom-friend-turned-best-friend moved away last week. Womp womp.
I do miss her already, and my son misses hers like crazy. But I know we'll all be OK. We each have other friends where we are and have a support system to get us through now, the most difficult, fresh time. And, we still do have each other... just lots of miles away!
Plus, I already found a new BFF. (kiiidddiinnngggg!!)
